SOUL KITCHENThe 'Green Line' festival begins today with the preview of the film 'Soul Kitchen' by Fatih Akin.
Its title is taken from a 'Doors' song. However its plot as well as the music are taken from Hamburg. Fatih in his movie tries to mix soul music, african sounds and blues which are all related to rembetiko.
According to him, ' through this film, I aim to bring different cultures together. Mix musics and sounds such as blues with rembetiko, soul and rock music'.
Fatih Akin was born in Hamburg in 1973 form Turkish parents. He is an actor, director and scriptwriter. His movies have been awarded in international film festivals, all over the world. In 2004, his film Head-on (Gegen die Wand) with Sibel Kekilli as the leading actress was a great success and recieved several prices, including the GOLDEN BEAR award at the Berlin Film Festival, and the 'Audience Award' at the 2004 European Film Awards.
The Green Line festival will run from today until the 5th of February with seven movies from Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, and the United States.
