If you are traveling to a place and you need a place to stay, but also would like a local to show you around, couchsurfing is here to make things easy for you.
You can also offer a couch to a traveler, or just show them around your city, go out with them and have fun, show them traditional products and the beauties of your country.
It is a 'worldwide network for making connections between the travelers and the local communities they visit' the website mentions.
How does it work: you register in the site : http://www.couchsurfing.org/
writing your age, your interests, and whether you are able to offer a couch to a traveler.
If not, you can still fix your availability to coffee/drinks and offer to travelers or to foreign people working in your country, a day out.
groups: when you register and create your profile, you can also join different groups (I am for example in the group of Cyprus) and send group messages and organise meetings, send information to travelers or request information from people that are in a group of a country you will be visiting.
It is a very good experience, and a way of understanding how all youth are alike!
ps in Cyprus, the Nicosia couchsurfers are the more active, but we are working on Limassol ones too:p
